ZiLOG chooses CoSy compiler development system as the technology of choice for ZiLOG's ANSI C compilers

ACE Press Release

San Jose, California, USA 3 November, 1998

ZiLOG, Inc., a leading supplier of embedded micrologic devices for the home entertainment, communications, and embedded control markets, announced today a licensing agreement with ACE Associated Compiler Experts to provide the CoSy Compilation System to enable C compiler support for all of ZiLOG's DSP processors, microprocessors, and microcontrollers.

The CoSy technology incorporates the features required to support ZiLOG's diverse family of products. These features include a reconfigurable front-end that supports both the ANSI C industry standard as well as the emerging DSP-C ANSI C extension. The result is that ZiLOG can support not only its microprocessor and microcontroller families, but also its increasingly important DSP processors using a single compiler technology. The CoSy technology also includes a full complement of robust optimizers that operate in parallel to quickly generate highly-optimized object code suitable for embedded applications.

"We intend to provide our customers with industry standard support wherever possible," commented Jack Davis, ZiLOG's Vice President of Development Tools in Austin, Texas. "Our customers now have the option of using the C language for application development using any ZiLOG processor, including the Z380 family of microprocessors, the Z893XX family of general purpose DSPs, and the Z8Plus family of microcontrollers."

"We are delighted that ZiLOG, our first major American customer, has chosen CoSy as their preferred compiler development environment," commented Marco Roodzant, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at ACE Associated Compiler Experts. "Especially because they are one of the first companies to recognize the importance of our recently introduced DSP-C extensions to the C programming language."

Both ZiLOG and ACE Associated Compiler Experts bv are exhibiting at the Embedded Systems Tradeshow in San Jose, California, November 3-5, 1998. You can learn more about ZiLOG by visiting booth number 4419; you can learn more about ACE and the CoSy compiler development system by visiting their booth number 1540.
