Japanese embedded system market recognizes benefits of CoSy's open system environment
ACE Associated Compiler Experts bv today announced that its CoSy compiler development platform received recognition for its leading-edge compiler development capabilities by being awarded an 'LSI Design of the Year' Excellence Award at this year's Embedded Systems Expo and Conference (ESEC) in Tokyo Japan.
Competing against more than 1840 other nominations, CoSy was selected to receive one of five Excellence Awards in the Development Environment and Tools category.
Commenting on the award, Munemitsu Shioyama, sales manager of ACE's Japanese sales representative Japan Novel, said, "We are delighted that after only two years of promoting CoSy in the Japanese market, which has resulted in licensing agreements with several of Japan's leading embedded system suppliers, CoSy received such a prestigious award."
The unique flexibility and modularity of CoSy's open-system environment gives developers the opportunity to develop optimizing compilers for a wide range of target system architectures and processors. In addition to the optimization engines delivered with CoSy, new optimization engines can be quickly developed and integrated into the compiler development environment. As a result, compilers can be optimized for a wide range of run-time requirements such as code size, execution speed and performance.
In addition to supporting CISC, RISC and VLIW compiler development, ACE's introduction of the DSP-C language and its support within the CoSy environment have brought all the time-to-market, IP re-use and program maintenance advantages of high-level language programming to the DSP community as well.
"CoSy can also adapt to new computing paradigms," said Martijn de Lange, President of ACE Associated Compiler Experts. "Advanced architectures require a new standard in compiler development, and CoSy provides the open system that is needed to customize the development environment to meet new architectural challenges. We are pleased that these virtues are recognized by Japanese experts in the field."
ACE Associated Compiler Experts bv (a wholly owned subsidiary of ACE Associated Computer Experts, Amsterdam, The Netherlands) is a world leader in the production of compiler development tools. Its open CoSy compiler development system gives compiler developers the ability to achieve a similar leading edge position in the construction of better and faster optimizing compilers for architectures ranging from 4-bit DSPs to 256-bit VLIW processors. CoSy also accommodates a wide range of programming languages including C, DSP-C, C++, Fortran and Java.
